UK tribe’s representation task    

Aspirant and mainstream          

I think that I belong to the group aspirant and mainstream, The aspirant group involves the tribes to know the look, music and lifestyle they want, and in order to get this they are willing to spend big amounts of money to get this, they also like to keep up with the cool but without the hard work of creating themselves. Aspirants are very social and like to hit the festivals and parties. They feel that they need to work hard to prove themselves to people, and need to be in the right place at the right time, and like to appeal to people although sometimes they may find this challenging, and they have an ambition to achieve something. The mainstream group is the idea of sticking to what you already know, and prefer to stick with what is safe rather than what rocks their boat. They like to keep life simple fun and have lots of friends. They are more than happy with readily available ‘high street’ influences e.g. radio 1, Miss Selfridges and heat magazine. These tribes are wary of anyone that stands out, but are also the most loyal tribes and often keep in the same group, when it comes to socialising. In the mainstream tribes there are ‘townies’ which are tribes who simply prefer to go with the flow, keeping up to date with celebrity gossip and the latest chart hits. They like football but aren’t fanatics, love to drink. They like to keep up with the music and watch all reality TV shows such as Geordie shore.

This would be the typical look at a festival in the summer an   aspirant would go for. This would be the look that would be classed as ‘cool’ and they would feel by wearing this they ate proving themselves to other people that they are in with it. Also over the days at the festival the outfits may be new or fairly new and they would have paid a lot of money to get this look for the festival.

 

The reason that I feel I belong to the group aspirant is because most of the things that the group aspirants do and think is what I also feel I do. I think that it’s good to have good clothes, and have a good party, because I think that, that is what everyone should be doing at this age, which is having a good time before you get too old for all of that. I would also say that I know the music, look and lifestyle that I want. I think that people that are in the aspirant group are people that want to be liked by everyone and want to be around people they would want to be around which does relate to me, and they are willing just to take life day by day without worrying too much about anything.

I also feel that I may belong more to the tribe group mainstream/townies; this is because I like to go with the follow of life and just keep up to date with the latest celebrity gossip and would class myself as normal. Also because I really enjoy football and reality TV shows, which is what I watch  is I am the watch the TV. I also like to flow the fashion and would may be wait to get something I case it wasn’t seen in fashion at the time. I also love listen to music that is played on radio 1 which is a mixture of indie/ pop and rock. The reason why I also feel that I belong to this tribe is because I shop at the well-known retailers on the high street and would class myself as keeping up with fashion. I also like to socialise in the same group as I feel that I am a loyal person. 

I wouldn’t consider myself similar to any celebrities or anyone in the media spot light as such, I feel that I would like to see myself similar to celebrities that have good style and fashion and that take each day as a new day.

I feel that I do like to copy the other people’s fashions in the media, and maybe try a little to be like them as many celebrities are liked by many people, so if you are to wear what they wear you feel that you are more update with the look, which is why I feel I do copy peoples fashion, but I also do like to keep it my own as well.
