reprentation of disabilty

Why is the clip funny?
The clip of the inbetweeners was funny because as will encourage the boys that he is with that it is a good game to play to impressive girls, so the boys go along with it and within the first throw it goes wrong, when he throws the Frisbee up into the air it doesn't go to the girls in the park and in fact hits a disabled girl in the head, as the girl did not expected it, it made the scene more funny because of her reaction, then the boys reaction after as they feel bad so they run off where as will goes to apologise.
How is the disabled girl being represented?
The girl is being represented as vulnerable and weak as she does not have much control and she is seen as upset as she beings to cry and shout when the Frisbee hits her, and then when will came over to apologise the girl still had the Frisbee in her hand so when will went to take it the girl didn't let go so looked like he was stealing it from her.
Are we meant to laugh at the disabled person?
I don't think we are meant to laugh at this happening because as the girl looks vulnerable and looks like she has no control over herself if people were to laugh it would make the girl even worse as she would feel very embarrassed, on the other hand I don't feel like if we were to laugh it would be seen in a negative way against the girl as if it was to be a abled person hit it wouldn't matter if we laugh, so by some people laughing it would just be seen as funny and not taking the mick out of her.
Are they the 'butt' of the joke?
I don't  think that it is the girl is the Butt of the joke although we do laugh at the girl being hit by the Frisbee we are mainly laughing at will throughout the scene. as Will as he also embarrassed his self first by saying that it impresses the girls then also by missing throwing the Frisbee so a lot of the attention is also on will but then main person everyone is laughing at is Will because of the way he is in this scene, how he acts and what he says rather than the girl.
How do you think disabled people respond to this?
disabled people may be offended by this scene as it hit a girl that is vulnerable and doesn't have much control as she is restricted to the wheel chair, and people do laugh when it hits her although this laughing is not seen as a negative just because she is disabled as people are juts laughing at the scene in general. on the other hand some disabled people may find it just as funny as abled bodied people as it is overall as a scene funny so may not be offended.
Are we as a society cultivated to think we should pity the disabled?
As a society I feel that we do feel we have to be kinder and nicer to the disabled as it is not there fault that they have a disability as they are just less fortunate then others, and we do treat them equally and give them a lot of respect as they should not be seen as a outcast by making them feel welcome and happy, and i think people in society think that it is only fair to treat them this way.

Luther gender representation

camera shots:
The camera shots used in this clip of Luther are close ups, establishing shot, high and low angle shots. At the start of the scene close up shots are used this is to emphasise the characters fear and anger towards each other. When the woman enters the building it is clear to see she will already have a lot of power over both men, a long shot/mid shot is used as she walks up to both men this allows the audience to become familiar with a lot of things; what she is wearing, what she has and the place in which she is in this case she comes across very powerful as the next shot is of a close up of the man that has just stabbed the other man, he looks very scared and vulnerable. Another camera shot in which the women shows her power over both men is when a low angle camera shot is used to show her power, by using this shot it shows the character strength as it makes them look bigger and taller; also as the man who has just been stabbed is on the floor it shows that he is very vulnerable as a high angle shot is used which makes him look small. a tracking shot it used at the end of the clip when, this emphasise the scene and setting the characters are in and allows the audience to become familiar with this from all the angles.

sound:
Most of the sound in the clip is used towards the end of the clip, this is when the violence in the clip happens. Tense music is in the background like a heart beat sound when the man is pointing the gun to the other mans head which emphasise the fact this his heart beat might not last much longer, it could also emphasise the mans heart rate as during this scene the music gets louder so the louder the music get the more nervous the man is getting as he is thinking he may get shot. when the woman walks in all the sound and music stops- this shows the representation of gender and how she is more powerful than the men as they all listen to her. After she kills the man the music is almost like a fairy tale music (before the singing) , this could show that the women always save the day in them films and they are always the most powerful which show the representation of gender in this clip.

editing:
There is not much editing in the clip, the only editing involved is 'zoom' this is used when zooming in to the characters face this allows the audience to see the characters emotion more and as it is zooming in it allows the audience to become familiar with the character.

mise en scene:
In this clip it is clear to see that they are at a train station that is completely empty as only the characters in the drama are seen in the clip. This make it more of a murder scene as no one is around to witness it. Also as it is a bigger empty building it makes the sound of their voices seem loud as they echo more. The characters are all dressed very formal in suit and smart clothing; the woman wheres all black and black leather gloves the black emphasises the power that she has and also that she could be a treat to the others in the clip, which she is by then the end of the clip. The men in the clip dont seem to be very powerful as the women seems to dominate them and make all of the decisions. in this clip she comes across very power but also like she had planned it as she seems to make all of the right moves.

camera shots:
When they first enter the house a mid shot is used to both show the man and the women, then this quickly moves into a long shot this is so the audience can get use to and see the type of setting the character are in. Over the shoulder shots illustrate an argument by using the over the shoulder shot allows the audience to look at the argument from both points of views. A two shot is use in a close up of the women and the begins to zoom in on her which shows the power that she has and also by zooming into a close up shows the audience more of her power through facial expressions. There is also a shot in the clip that goes from extreme close up to a long shot this is a comparison and in this moment when the camera is close up the woman is powerful but when the long shot occurs she changes the subject as she feels weaker.

editing:
Zoom is used a number of times throughout this clip, in one of the scene the camera zooms into them when it gets tense and more serious as the women says 'did you come here for sex' he answered 'no' which is when the camera zoomed back out.  The camera also zooms into the black whole near the start of the clip this is because what she is saying is getting more and more powerful so the focus of the black whole is getting closer and closer.

sound:
During most of this scene the music is very sinister and tense, at the start of the clip the music is very loud which could emphasise the location of where this is shot. When they first enter the house it is very quite but once the women understands that it is just them two she soon becomes powerful and the music emphasises this. When she mentions the black whole the music goes very loud and tense, it almost sound like they are in space; this tense music stops when the conversation gets more personal when shes asked about his wife. The music again begins to get loud as they get closer and then when the long shot occurs the music goes quite this can show the power the women had as she asked him 'if he came here for sex'

mise en scene:
Both of them are dressed very formal and talk very formally. The women wears black during this clip which could empahise the power that she has, also when she is talking she seems to know everything that the man will say so her answers are always pressuring on the man which also shows a lot of power shes has over the man. The way that she also comes across is very intimidating and she does have a sexual side, but the man does not buy it so she is not as powerful. When the women mentions about the mans wife the man and gets personal, as this happens the women gets more and more powerful but then then man turns it around and then the man gets defense and then she loses some of the power she had. Also where the clip is set in her house, which seems to be very posh and expensive; which could also show that she has power in money

Avenger Assemble reserach

The Importance in Cross Media Convergence and Synergy in Production, Distribution and Marketing (how do companies work together to produce, distribute and publicize a film? How can Disney use their size to promote and publicise a film? How can small companies work together to promote their businesses when making and promoting a film?) Who publicised and distributed the film? How did these companies work together? What roles did they undertake?

  • Companies work together to produce a film which is done by larger organisations that separate their departments for development, production, business and legal teams. The teams who work in development source and work on potential stories for the company whereas, the production staff usually assist in coordinating shooting films and making sure the risk to the company is minimised. This is done by tracking film budgets and using experience to ensure the film-makers achieve realistic targets and ambitions. The business and legal department teams are important throughout the film by making processes to guarantee legal proceedings including regards to rights and financial decisions.

  • Disney uses their size to promote and publicise a film by uploading trailers to popular websites such as YouTube. As Disney is becoming bigger and media is progressing significantly they have begun to use popular and uprising social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to promote films easily by uploading trailers to these sites which is different compared to previous years, when you go to the cinema to watch a trailers of the upcoming new films and TV shows showcase previews hit the big screens.

  • Also, paramount helped distribute the avengers but sold its distribution rights of the avengers and iron man 3 to Disney for $115 million. This could linked to the fact that Disney brought Marvell studios for $4 million and they wanted distribution rights for big characters they really wanted from the other studios such as fox characters including, X-men, Daredevil, Fantastic Four as well as paramount’s iron man. Captain America and Thor which will all appear in the avengers. As paramount sold itself to Disney for $115 million it continued to distribute films during the summer of 2011 including thor and captain America but after this role with Marvell studios is was cancelled.

  • Small companies can work together to produce and promote a film as they don’t have any press who can affect their promoting and marketing. Also small film makers have access to the tools which will make their film a success because in these modern times it’s all a competition of the best marketing and promoting. Small film companies can also use techniques to promote films such as trailers allowing viewers to see the highlights and encourage them to see the film as well as using techniques in other advertisements such as:  TV, billboards, prints/poster and media advertisement

  • The film Avengure Assemble was released and publicized on the 11th April 2012 in the EI Caption Theatre and on May 4th it was officially released in the United States. The film was distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and the production company was Marvel Studios.
  • These companies worked together by Disney using their size and fan base to upload trailers onto YouTube and use popular social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook to promote the film.

Wire in the blood (representaion of gender)

representation of gender

camera shots
At the start of the clip the camera shot used is a tracking shot; this is used to allow the audience to feel part of the setting/scene as we move along with the character and keep up with their pace, this allows the audience to feel like we are almost the public and we walk past them. Another camera shot that is used the over the shoulder shot this allows the audience to feel part of the dialogue which may interact the characters more with the action taking place. Another shot that is used is a long shot this allows the audience to become familiar with the setting in which the character in this case the characters are in a very old building that looks very old, misty (from the smoke) also cold and haunted.

sound
The sound that is used in the clip (50 seconds through) is very sinister as the actor is working out some pictures from a crime scene this is because it is a murder investigation so may be perceived as a spooky part as he's trying to find out who did it. Also the music goes very sister like when they enter a empty old house, it looks very old and misty inside, the music may be used to emphasise the fact that it could be haunted and something bad was about to happen which it did ( he hit the mans head on the wall). straight after this scene the music turns very up beat which shows the contrast what they are doing as the men in the house were smoking and doing drugs and the man and the boy were making popcorn and enjoying a nice night in, so the sound shows the setting in theses part of the clip.

editing
There is a flashback at one point during the clip when the man 'what happened to Danny' in which the other man says 'he disappeared' and then a clip is shown of him being held hostage/being killed. The other bit of editing in the clip is when the man is own his own looking through the documents to see if he can find evidence about the murder. The clip is clearly edited as it just show the bits in the clips when he is taking, as the camera shots are at different angles and he suggests different things quickly. This could be to make the audience aware of all the different aspects of the murder and also make it at a quick flow so the audience can maintain the information quickly but also without getting bored when listening to him talk.

mise en scene
At the start of the clip it is clear to see the type of setting the characters are in, also the fact that they are police officers. By what they are both wearing in this clip shows that they are quite formal and high up in their job.

beyonce video phone (The male gaze)

Beyoncé video phone

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGkvQAXp0vdng

At the start of the video clip Beyoncé is seen as the only female, the men that are in the video follow her as the women leads the way which could show her power that she has over the men. This is shown in 2 types of shots a tracking shot and a long shot; this is to emphasise the shot in different ways that Beyoncé is shown as the dominate one in the clip. When the long shot and tracking shot are used it has a slow motion effect; this could allow the audience to come to terms with the setting, what she is wearing, and her dominance at this moment in the clip. Also during the slow motion in the tracking a there is a repetitive use of black and red flashes in the background. Red can also be seen as a dangerous colour which shows that Beyoncé sexuality can be used as a dangerous weapon towards men.

Beyoncé is also seen wearing all black leather; also what she is wearing is very revealing as it does not cover up all her skin on the main part of her body. This black leather effect shows a powerful dominant look over the men in the clip. The black leather effect also connotation

The female sexuality which can be seen as very dangerous in this clip this is shown but can be hidden through the media.

There is also shot of all 3 women, doing the same dance move, wearing the same clothes and look the same. This could be seen that women are all seen the same in the media and they are a model to what all women/girls should look like. But also in this scene what they are wearing can be classed as very revealing and there is a black and white contrast; black suggesting dangerous and white suggesting innocent. Furthermore during this part of the clip the dancing that is performed by Beyoncé can be seen as very sexual also the sound of the music can be seen as this to.

This picture suggests a lot about the way men look at women in society and through the media. During this part of the clip the men are shown to look very specifically and directly at Beyoncé. This could show the power she has over the men but also shows how women can be look at by men.

In this shot the men are again seen to be looking a Beyoncé in a specific/sexual way. Also Beyoncé looks like that she is wearing nothing as her costume is very see through.

Finally the camera shots that are used in the clip are mainly midshot this may be so the audience can see the main area of Beyoncé that men will find attractive. Also the midshot may be used mainly to show off her figure as in the media this is how most women are presented and most girls/women want to be like this. The other 2 camera shots that are used often are the close up which is off Beyoncé face this is to show her beauty and also the long shot to see what she looks like from distance so men are able to look at all of her also to emphasise what she looks like from this angle.
